Yesterday morning this is what we woke up to...

Then it started to rain. AND then it started to sleet. Ahhh, life in Indiana!

I Know I Shouldn't...

It is snowing. It is blowing. It is drifting and it is COLD!!

So I'm going to do something that I know I shouldn't...

I've passed this up in the grocery store several times. Each time thinking that it looks soooo good!

But, as you can see, I didn't pass it up this time!

Now I know that most people crave a nice hot bowl of soup or chili when it is cold outside, but I think a bowl of this warm chocolate goodness with a scoop of ice cream will do the trick!

FYI: Directions on the box said that I had to eat it with ice cream!

The Black Crow On Main

Most of you know that my little booth, E-Six Flea Market Style, moved to a new store that opened in downtown Elkhart, IN. It has been open for about 6 weeks now and business is starting to pick up.

There are 25 vendors at The Black Crow On Main. These are some of my favorites...

The goal of this store is to always offer a large variety of items to choose from. They are also hoping the coffee/sweets shop will open by the end of February. I can't wait because they will be selling "Rise & Roll" donuts! The best donuts I've ever eaten!! (This could be a bad thing!)

Trying Some Facebook Recipes

You know how you see all those recipes posted on facebook and they look so good? Well, I decided I was going to start trying some of them.

Here are some that I've tried lately...

Sweet & Spicy Bacon Chicken:

These turned out pretty good. I think I will use a thinner cut bacon next time because I felt like I had to cook the chicken longer than I wanted to in order for the bacon to crisp up.

Caramel Apple Dump Cake:

Lisa took some of this home for Ty and he said to her "If this was a woman, I'd cheat on you" or something to that effect...I guess that meant he liked it!

Pull Apart Pizza:

This looked better than it tasted. I will try it again, but I will "doctor it up" a bit next time. It calls for olive oil, but I felt like it needed to have a little more of a garlic bread flavor, so maybe some garlic butter will help next time. Oh, you also have pizza sauce to dip it in.

Cheesy Chicken Tater Tot Casserole:

Now I'm sure everyone has had some type of tater tot casserole before, but we haven't. Mainly because of the word "Casserole". John doesn't do casseroles!  But Lisa made this and told me about it and I decided I would give it a try. And guess what? He liked it! I did however, have to tell him every ingredient that was in it before he would try it...and I didn't tell him it was a casserole!

Housebound Can Be A Good Thing!

Snow and frigid temps keeping me indoors has been a good thing. I got all my Christmas decorations taken down and put away. I also got some painting done...

Before (pic was taken this past summer when I brought the chair home from an estate sale...aahhh, green grass and shadows from the sunshine...):
After:

I love these blue chairs, but they took a lot of work. I had to completely remove the backs off of both chairs to repair and glue them. I also discovered that they use to have cane seats and at some point someone replaced the caning with padded seats. I think I like that they have the same arms, legs and seat, but the backs are different.

Good morning!

Blizzard of 2014

It just isn't stopping!
All schools and a lot of businesses are closed tomorrow...even the University of Notre Dame is closed. Lisa was supposed to go to jury duty tomorrow and thankfully that was cancelled too. Emergency vehicles on the roads only, so John will be staying home from work tomorrow also. Wonder what we will wake up to in the morning?

Winter in Indiana

Looks like the weathermen knew what they were talking about this time!
All these pictures were taken before noon...we have gotten at least another 6-7 inches after the pictures and it is still coming down hard and has started blowing. Glad to be inside!

Post Christmas at E-Six

The holidays are over and it was time to pack away the decorations at E-Six. I normally don't look forward to taking things down after Christmas because everything looks so plain afterwards, but I was actually looking forward to taking them down because I was adding Lisa's hand painted signs and I knew they would be the perfect way to keep things bright and fun after the decorations were gone!
I told her she needed to come up with a name to make it a little side business...and Quotespirations by Lisa Miller was born! I love these signs and I hope she does well with them.

I spent an entire day in the booth taking things down, moving furniture around....and then moving the furniture again....and then again, until I got it how I liked it. John also dropped off a storage cabinet that he got me for Christmas to keep in my cubby space. I lucked out when I got my booth space because there was an extra area that I put drapes in front of that I'm using to store stuff. I wanted the cabinet so I can lock some things up. I can now keep extra things like tools, extension cords, light bulbs, table cloths, step stool, etc. there and not have to carry it all back and forth. And I love the drapes I found at Target to hide it all!

Now it is time to get back to work on some furniture. I'm almost done with a chair. I'm waiting on the paint to dry so I can put the newly recovered seat cushion back on...and so 2014 at E-Six begins!
