1 + 1 = A Good Week!

I managed to finish two things for the booth this week.
First is a great old coat tree that Ty's parents gave me.  They said it had been sitting in their garage for a really long time.  This is one of those pieces that I would have loved to leave unpainted but it had black grease soaked in one of the legs that wouldn't sand out and I also wanted to replace the hooks which left holes that needed patched, so I had to paint it.

Next is a cabinet/hutch that John brought home one night after work.

Before:
I really didn't like this before it was painted, but I love this color...it is called Plymouth Blue. Pictures make it look lighter than it really is.  I used black on the details and put new black knobs on it.

After:
Back to work tomorrow. I had 2 days off in a row and it felt good!

FLOWERS!!!

This past week we went from being in the upper 80's (even hit 90 one day) to needing to shield our flowers from frost! Crazy Indiana weather!
I've carried these in and out so much that they are probably confused, wondering if they are indoor plants or outdoor plants!

And keeping with the flower motif, I purchased this large, heavy plaster wall hanging and candle holders at a garage sale a couple weeks ago and just got done re-painting them...

After:
John can't figure out why anyone would want something like this, but I think it is kind of unique & fun...hopefully someone else does too!

Made by: John

Thought you might like to see a table that John made this past week...
He purchased an old sewing table stand and then made the top for it...
He made the top narrow so it could be used as a sofa table. I think it would work well in an entry or hallway too.
I think it turned out pretty good.  Good job John!

Wicked Week

It has been a busy week!

Monday I worked 14 hours and every minute of it was on my feet.  No joke, I didn't sit down once!

Tuesday, needless to say, I was moving pretty slow but did managed to get one hutch/cabinet sanded, started painting some decorative things I bought last Friday and got 4 loads of laundry done.

Wednesday....well, it was literally "Wicked"!!! :)
And Thursday, as I was heading out to my car for work, I once again came face to face with a reminder that I might not be able to keep up with everything...a line up of furniture that is waiting for me to work on it!
This is just in the garage. We have several more pieces sitting in the basement too!

Thankfully Thursday also brought this...
This Azalea bush hasn't bloomed for the past 2 years because frost always gets to it, but I remembered to cover it this year! Maybe it is reminding me to take time to stop and smell the roses!

Fun Friday

I did not get one piece of furniture done this week. :(  I did however spend today going to a couple estate sales, one barn sale and a garage sale. I didn't find any affordable furniture pieces but did find some smaller things for the booth.

I met the guy who had the barn sale and he actually knew about my booth E-Six!  He named some of the furniture pieces I had in the booth and told me that I did good work and also said that he didn't think I priced my items high enough. He gave me a lot of good information.  His barn was filled with a lot of things I would loved to have but they were already refinished. It was weird to meet a stranger and find out they know about things you've been doing.  Weird in a good way.

When I was heading home, my car filled with an old window, a 3 1/2' x 3 1/2' wooden game board, a big star made out of tree branches, baskets, a rusty old tonka toy, etc. I get a call from John asking me to stop at MSC to pick up something he ordered for work. (MSC closes at 5:00 so he wouldn't get there in time)  So I stop there on my way home, go in, sign the paperwork and they bring out this 8 inch x 5 foot long pipe!  Hello? I drive a Mini Cooper and it is filled with my shopping treasures!?!  So I rearrange my stuff and get it in...almost touching my windshield!

So that was my day...and I loved it!  We finished up with dinner and a movie....

Now I'm heading to bed because I have work tomorrow.  I hope all of you have a wonderful Mother's Day Sunday!!

Mustard Please!

It was a hectic Friday evening for us and we were racing the clock to get everything done that we needed to before heading to E-Six. But we managed to get there at 6:52, plenty of time before closing at 8:00.

But, when I walked in the front door half the lights were off. I asked Judy at the counter if they were closing early and she said "yes, we close at 7:00 now...didn't you get the memo?"

Sooo, we had 8 minutes to go unlock the loading dock doors, unload the dresser we brought, cart it to our booth and take a couple quick pictures of it before they claimed a "walk though" was going to be made with a security dog. (Neither John or I believed that one)

Reminder of the before:

After:
I love this mustard yellow color...must be why I craved hot dogs while I was painting it!

As for the memo, I did get it but found out I got one of the first few memo's that went out and those didn't include the part about the hours changing.  Guess they are just doing this for the summer and then it goes back to 8pm.
