JACKPOT ! ! ....noooo, I didn't win the lottery!
Last week I started a quest to find a star for the top of our new (smaller) Christmas tree. We were unable to have anything on the top of our old tree because it was so tall it touched the ceiling.
I had a certain kind of star I was looking for. I wanted it to be made out of twigs. I had seen them in the past and knew they would go great with my other decorations. I remembered seeing them at Target so I went there first and of course they didn't have any. This began my 3 day quest and this is a list of the places I went to track down a "twig" star tree topper:
DAY 1 (Goshen, IN):
1. Target
2. Walmart
3. Kohls
4. Michaels
5. Hobby Lobby
DAY 2 (Mishawaka, IN):
6. Super Target
7. Lowes
8. Menards
9. Home Depot
10. Gordmans
11. Marshalls
DAY 3 (Elkhart, IN):
12. JC Penneys - JACKPOT ! ! !
No, I didn't win the lottery but I bet the other customers in the store thought I did when I spoted this on the shelf ! !
It even has lights! My Christmas tree is complete! :)

Deck the Halls!
Decorating is done at the Werntz house!! This year we downsized our tree. I loved our 9' tree, but it was a lot of work to decorate, and I always had to remove furniture from our livingroom to put it up. I didn't have to move anything to put this new one up. I put the 9' tree on Craigs List yesterday and it sold yesterday! I hope I don't regret selling it!
I also put Glen's bears back out in the yard... the one bears head moves back and forth. It is cute. I think he would like that I have them out.
Now I have to get myself in the mood to Christmas shop!
Luckie now spends a good part of her day hanging out with her new friends instead of hanging out with me!

Thanks "Grilling" Day
Ahhh.... the sound of the dishwasher running! That means everything is cleaned up and put away and now I can relax! It's a lot of work, but worth it to spend a great Thanksgiving day with family.
It was in the 60's here today so John made 2 turkey breasts on our Big Green Egg grill...YUM ! !
They were so juicy and had a great apple smoke flavor. He did a good job.
Later, our adopted outdoor cat came to visit everyone while they were here. We really need to come up with a name for him....or her.
I hope you got to spend your Thanksgiving Day with the ones you love.

Monday Night Artist??
John and I went to "U can PAINT 2" at Juday Creek tonight. This is the painting we were trying to duplicate:
You can be the judge as to whether we came close or not....
I liked John's vase way better than mine and the artist having the class also complimented him on it. I think he was eating that up! He might have had the better vase, but I won the raffle they had! The prize was a free night for 2 at another class. :)

Notre Dame vs Pittsburgh
Yesterday, John and I went to the Notre Dame - Pittsburgh game. Before I tell you about our day, I want to give you a little info to help make sense of some things that happened.
1. A couple years ago I got a pair of ND socks and I normally wear them on game days. After this years first game & win, I told John that as long as ND kept winning, I wouldn't wash my socks and I'd keep wearing them during the games. SO, as of last weeks game I had been wearing these socks for 8 games. ALSO, during these games, if they were losing and my feet were under a blanket, I'd uncover my feet so that my socks would show.....and they would just happen to win!
2. Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile may remember that I admitted to being a reality tv junkie, AND that one of my favorite shows is "The Little Couple".
Ok, now I can tell you about our day (yesterday) at Notre Dame. We went early because we wanted to do a couple things there before the game. John wanted to see the trumpets play inside the golden dome and we were also going to John's bosses tailgate party.
After parking in someone yard for $30 we started walking towards the stadium parking lot for the tailgate party. On the way we saw this crazy car:
Then once in the stadium parking lot we see Bill from The Little Couple ! ! ! He was just walking thru the crowd with another guy. I stopped him and told him how much I loved his show. I talked to him for a couple minutes and John took our picture together. He was really nice.
We then made our way to the tailgate party for free food and drinks! Someone there told us about how the band plays before the game on the stairs of some building, so we made the walk to see that. I'll remind you now that the temps were below 40 degrees at this point but with all the walking it wasn't too bad and it was suppose to reach 41 by game time. After listening to the band we made our way to the golden dome and saw the trumpets:
After that we made our way inside the stadium and found our seats. With the warmth built up from all the walking, I wasn't cold during the first half of the game, but I wasn't happy with how poorly the Irish were playing, and felt we might be sitting in the cold only to see them lose their first game of the season.
After half time, the sun was going down and I was getting cold and it really didn't look good for the Irish. I was starting to regret even going to the game....after all I could watch them lose in the comfort of my home and not be sitting on a hard bench shivering to death!
Then I felt a nudge and John said "Take off your boots so they can see your socks". Is he crazy?? I'm freezing and he wants me to take off my boots!?! After a few minutes I actually did take off one boot and guess what? The Irish came from behind and tie the game. I put my boot back on and after 3 over times the Irish won 29-26. I think someone should inform Brian Kelly of what I do for his team! I can't believe they are 9-0 now. It's been a long time.
So that was our Saturday...I think I'll stay inside today!!
